Last time we Canadians witnessed a major exhibition pertaining to Sikh History was in the Year of 1999, called “The Arts of Sikh Kingdoms”. This major event was hosted by Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto. It was facilitated by Victoria and Albert (V&A) of London, England.

Now at the tenth Anniversary of the “The Arts of Sikh Kingdoms” exhibition, Canadians will be able to view yet another spectacular exhibition, called “the Spirit Born People, Defending the World”. The Exhibition highlights the glorious role of the Indian Regiments in the Two World Wars.

This 1941 photograph of Sir Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister, was taken in the Parliament of Canada where he delivered his memorable speech in which he frequently recognized the heroism of the allied soldiers in the Second World War.

"...British people are highly indebted and obliged to Sikhs for a long time. I know that within this century we needed their help twice and they did help us very well. As a result of their timely help, we are today able to live with honour, dignity, and independence.”
- Sir Winston Churchill

Now in 2009, one of the key highlights of the present exhibition shows Sir Winston Churchill greeting and recognizing the bravery of the Sikh regiments in the world wars, yet again in the Parliament of Canada.

The Event will take place from 9.00 am to 10.00 pm in Room 200 West Block, West Tower on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009.
